With only three games left in the regular season, it’s time
to begin looking forward to the playoffs for the Red Wings. Unlike in years past, Detroit is currently
locked in a heated battle for the 4-seed with the Predators and the
Blackhawks. With one point separating
Detroit from the 5th/6th seed, these last three games
will go a long way in determining the Red Wings playoff seed. Nashville has the easiest schedule, because
it avoids both Detroit and Chicago while playing Minnesota, Dallas, and
Colorado. Detroit has a game at St.
Louis, and games against New Jersey and Chicago. Chicago only has 2 games left: against the Wild
and against Detroit. Since it is likely
that Nashville will win 2 out of their last 3, giving them 102 points, the Red
Wings find themselves in a crucial stretch of games. Four points are needed if Nashville takes 2
of 3 since Nashville has more wins without the shootout (41 to 39) as of today. Assuming Detroit holds on to the 4-seed, they
will most likely play Nashville but will have the ever important home ice
advantage for the series. Since
Nashville is currently playing, I will try to keep up with the game in order to
make any changes.
