Tigers place Doug Fister on 15 Day DL

Tigers right handed starting pitcher Doug Fister left today's game vs the Red Sox in the 4th inning with apparent left side soreness.

Following the game, the Tigers have announced that Fister was placed on the 15-Day disabled list with a "left costochondral strain", effective immediately. As a result, the Tigers called up RHP Bryan Villarreal from Triple-A Toledo.

I would assume that Villarreal takes the long man role in the Tigers bullpen, with Duane Below taking Fisters place in the rotation for the time being.

It's April, so it's nothing to be too concerned about, at least right now. Better to miss a few starts in April and come back healthy than to be bothered all season by a nagging injury.
